Sometimes I sit and think of my life to depths that rattle me to the core. The core of by being, who I am and why I am who I am.
I think we all ought to give consideration to our spirit and mind enough to honestly evaluate what makes us who we are and how we have gotten to our present state of being.
The journey we have all traveled in this life has so much meaning about who we really are, why we feel the way we do in the present.
An honest soul-searching can be a healthy and healing thing. It can sometimes give explanation, clarity and direction for our future.
How many times along life’s journey I have said, I used to think this or that only to realize through experience and personal understanding, I have changed my mind.
Did you know it is okay to change your mind. Did you hear that “it is okay to change your mind”. It can be a very humbling thing. The very thing that causes spiritual growth.
Gods word and experience can change your mind at any stage of life regarding a pious or self-righteous belief that you hold to or your particular Church practices.
Let’s be honest here about our Christianity! We think we hold some special direct recipe of ingredients that dictate what Christianity is, what it should look like and how it should be proclaimed to the whole world. We proudly think that our group of believers has it right.
That we have some secret open door to all that is truth in regards to God and his mysteries. We pride ourselves on our knowledge and understanding of Gods word and find fault with others to don’t see things as we do.
We are so sure of ourselves that we preach it and declare it as if we hold the keys to heavens door and that God does not give those keys to those who don’t hold to the exact truths we preach.
How wrong we are as a people! How and who God uses for his great kingdom does not fit into our little box.
Stay in your spiritual lane but realize that other Christians are traveling through their journey in a different lane running parallel to the same destination.
The body of Christ has many members. Scripture is clear on the matter.
I Corinthians 12: 14-17
“For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling”?
How dare I or you as a hand or foot think that the balance of the body of Christ does not have their own work to do or that they are going about it the wrong way.
Regarding other Christians and their spiritual gifts the apostle Paul finishes I Corinthians Chapter 14 this way. “Let all things be done decently and in order.” I Corinthians 14:40
But by Gods order, not our limited idea of his specific order.
I came up in my early Christian years in a Baptist Church. It is where God placed me. I learned valuable principles I needed within that body of believers. At that stage of my growth I needed roots that were strong and I received roots there and I thank God for it.
But as years have passed and I grew, I have found that those strong roots secured me into solid ground, yet have allowed me to grow branches that sprawl, fork, twist and turn, sometimes get pruned. I developed into a tree that looks a little different then the one I grow next to, in Gods great kingdom. But of all his children who love him he tells us……..
“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper”. Psalms 1:3
We are an individual tree in Gods forest. Each a little different and each when planted by the master, bears its our own fruit.
You see here is the challenge for mankind with his prideful mind. Just because you know and have a personal relationship with the Lord, perhaps he has enlightened you to truths he feels you can apply in your life, you are only one of his many trees.
Think of all the types of trees you know. How Big is our God? How many different types of trees fill his forest of believers? Do they all look like you?
