Hurricane Matthew is now beginning to make its way back out to sea, still a category one storm with bands of rain still effecting areas that have accumulated some rain totals in excess of 12″.
Dangerous floodwaters sweep through neighborhoods, personal property and businesses as rivers of waters ravish lives. Rescue teams are in place working long hours, in incredible difficult conditions.
One can do nothing but be in awe of such damage. How rapidly lives have changed as disruptions of all things normal vanish. Millions effected will morn losses, both of life and properties.
Churches today will be filled with unfamiliar faces as people across our land seek a place to worship. Some will have services at shelters others will not be able to make it to services.
Father may brotherly love and compassion abound as your people meet together in various places today to comfort one another.
For those across our great nation who are far removed from this devastation, may they too keep their brothers and sisters in Christ as well as those who don’t know our Lord as of yet in their prayers. In the upcoming days many evacuated will be returning to their homes to assess damage and begin a massive rebuilding effort.
Today Lord we praise and thank you for all you do for us. We thank you for prayer and its life changing power. May we all count our blessings and pray for one another as we suffer through this trial.
Father give strength, recovery and healing from this great wound we have just been given. Once it is no longer today’s news, may we, your people care enough to continue to pray for the lives this disaster has touched.
May hearts turn to you for hope of healing. Touch lives, give direction and strength to those involved. Through it all we pray that you will honored and your eternal kingdom increased. In Jesus name we pray, Amen
