Sometimes when I write a post it is hard for me say what is in my heart. I find myself looking back over my writings from time to time and realize that I write more as a teacher than a comforter. It is just my nature to be more serious than witty or entertaining.
I do realize that my writing is not enjoyed nor appreciated by masses because of its serious nature. That is okay with me, because I would rather reach a few with truth than to just entertain a crowd.
Father in heaven today I praise you that you have put within my heart a desire to know you more. I love reading your word and it truly is a lamp unto my feet. Help me to stay humble and grateful. Help me to speak the word in season (when convenient) and out of season ( when not ) and not water it down, but boldly proclaim its truths, that your gospel might change hearts and save lives.
Scriptures will teach those who are wise what we can expect to see in the Last Days.
” This know also, that in the last days perilous (Dangerous) times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent (without self-control), fierce, despisers of those that are good,
Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God”; 2 Timothy 3:1-4
If we look at our world today and compare it to these signs, can one not know and see how close our Lords return is?
Reading on into Chapter 4 Peter writes in response to those times what we ought to be doing.
“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry”. 2 Timothy 4:1-5
For me the admonition is clear and I am hoping to awake some to its truths. We who know the Lord ought to be teaching the word in all truth, the time is at hand.
Reading II Peter chapter 3 today I realized that Peter was also issuing hard messages and warnings. He was reminding Gods people of difficult times and how scoffers ( 3:3 & 4) and infidels would make light of our Lords return.
I encourage you today to read for yourself 2 Peter Chapter 3.
I believe we are in the Last Days that Peter was speaking of and we ought to be warning and instructing others in earnest. The Lord has left us here to be light and salt, not to entertain.
He will come as a thief in the night. (2 Peter 3:10) Let us warn those who will have a heart to listen.
What signs can you see that are mentioned in these warnings that are not clearly recognizable in our world today? Have you escaped the wrath to come and if so who are you warning?
