feed me with food convenient (suitable) for me:
Now that we have cleaned out the clutter in our mind we have made room to fill those empty spaces with proper spiritual food. The type that will nurture us back to health.
So much information is available these days on eating healthier for our physical bodies. Trustworthy sources are now telling us to avoid certain foods. Make healthier choices and we should live longer healthier lives. We certainly should take better care of these physical bodies that God has given us to walk through this life with.
But today we are talking Spiritual Food. About filling the empty shelves in our mind with carefully selected foods from our Lord’s grocery store.
I don’t know about you but before I head off to the grocery store I do several things out of habit.
- I check the refrigerator for spoiled food or food needed to be discarded.
- I arrange and sort shelves and see what is needed to retsock.
- I make a list of staples (basics) that will be needed.
- I plan my meals and make a list of what I will buy.
Then off I go to shop. Once I get inside, I intentionally head to the parimenters of the store where the healthier food is always on display. Those crowded choices in the middle isles, although tempting, are not the places to find the better nutrition.
Good spiritual food is also to be selected just as carefully. You see our enemy, the devil, has mingled bad spiritual in with the good. If you don’t use care in your selections you will fill those empty shelves with the wrong things.
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles (cunning devises) of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:11&12 KJV
It seems to me that ever time I clean and organize space in my home to remove clutter, in a very short time I may need to do it again. That amazes me. I spend time freeing myself from the visual clutter only to stuff that place with something else that sometimes is more disturbing visually than it was before. Why do we do that?
An empty space is ok. Leave the shelfspace in your mind clean until you can restock it with the proper things. Pray about what to place there. Meditate on God’s word and he will feed you with food suitable for you.
