To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
We left off yesterday with a word study of the Word discreet. I challenged everyone to take time to research the synonyms we looked at and define and write them for a more complete understanding.
I have always tried to be a good student, especially where the Word of God is teaching a truth. So I too took the assignment to heart and below these are the words I needed to get a clearer understanding of.
10-20-2015 Homework assignment Ms Linda Darlene
Unobtrusive: not blatant or aggressive: not undesirable noticeable.
inconspicuous: not clearly visible or attracting attention, unshowy, modest, concealed.
Subtle: so delicate or precise as to be difficult to analyze or describe. mysterious, not obvious.
Low-key: to not announce it. Quiet and relaxed: not very forceful, emotional or noticeable.
Understated: expressed or done in a quiet or simple way. Avoid obvious emphasis or embellishment.
Muted: quiet, soft, not expressed strongly or loud.
Restrained: characterized by reserve or moderation, not excessively showy or ornate. unflashy, tasteful.
It is amazing just what one word can mean in application. As I studied these meanings I realized quickly how the average woman in today’s society lacks these attributes. Such contrast of God’s intended plan for woman can not be pleasing to him.
The disurbing truth is that such contrast is exibited in public display and it makes one wonder what goes on behind closed doors so to speak. People will typically put their better foot forward in public.
My husband has been ill for days and I will leave off here today to tend to him.
Tomorrow we will review further into our word search.
May the Lord help us Christian women to be guided by these understandings to align ourselves to reflect behavior closer to that which pleases our Great God rather than that the world accepts and embraces.
