“The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as become holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things: That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.” Titus 2:3-5
- If you are a wife of any age, the next series of messages are for you.
- If you are an older woman, this series of messages is for you.
- If you are a younger woman, married or not, this series is for you.
Today I begin a series of messages that I am required by my God to share. Many of the places we will go during this series are hard places. Climbing harder mountains than some of you may want to climb. This is not for the faint of heart! So for those brave enough, follow me up this mountain. The view from the top will be well worth the climb.
I love the Word of God! If we claim to love Jesus, we love The Word!
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
God’s Word is perfect and complete. That is why he warns not to take away nor add to it. Many times this message echoes throughout its pages, with the strongest of warnings for it to not be meddled with. It’s truths are clear and plain and truth is always truth.
God’s Word is not a buffet, where one can take what one wants and discard the rest. Everything is set before us to nourish and complete us. Guide and instruct us. So let us each Pray for an understanding heart and a willing mind as we begin this series.
Hard places are hard places! The world is not our home. God tells us we are pilgrims here..Hebrews 11:13-15th. We are in the world but not of it. If we want a very clear picture of the world all we need do is read the gospel of John. 77 times “the world” is mentioned.
Today the world looks different and behaves different than it did 20 years ago. If we look back through history, change is ever present. Mankind has progressed in all aspects according to worldly standards. I believe our God does not see how the world lives and behaves as progress! The only progression he sees Will require him to intervene. Hallelujah!! Even so come Lord Jesus.
Bear with me as we assess this Mountain we are preparing to climb.
“And the Lord God said, it is not good that man should be alone: I will make him a help meet for him.” Genesis 2:18
What is this that God is saying here, by help meet? Very simply a proper helper. A woman is many things, but we must not miss where out part in the creation story begins. We are our husbands “Help meet”. Let’s define these words for clarity.
Help: assist, aid, be of service to.
Meet: fulfill or satisfy a need, match up to, conform to, comply with, answer to.
Now if we just stop there most of us could say, oh yes, I do those things most of the time. But God’s Word does not stop there. In the very next chapter we read that God has added some pretty powerful words to our role. We all know the story…
“Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and conception: in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children: and thy desire shall be to thy husband and he shall rule over thee.” Genisis 3:16
God’s Word is perfect and he surely does not waver in what he says. If you have given birth you know all too well what the first part of this scripture speaks of. The later is just as true .
So what does it mean to rule over someone? Let’s define the Word.
Rule: to excercise ultimate power or authority over, govern, control, lead, dominate, run, head, administer, manage.
As we rest here for today let us evaluate what we understand God is saying. Tomorrow we begin our climb up the mountain. I look forward to your return. If you do not return I believe it will be for one of the following reasons.
- I have already studied this stuff, I don’t need to come to this class.
- I know where this is going and I am not climbing that mountain.
- This teacher does not know my circumstances, I can’t do what she may ask me to.
The world will agree with any of these reasons to not join this climb, after all times have changed, right?
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. Be not carried about with divers (different and new) and strange doctrines.” Hebrews 13:8-9
Let us rest & resume tomorrow and may God bless each of us richly as we study his truths on this sensitive subject.
